Contact the Board

  • Thank you for your interest in the Grosse Pointe Public School System Board of Education. The board’s role is to oversee and set school policy, hire and work in partnership with the superintendent, and develop and oversee the district's balanced budget. The feedback and voices of our community members play an integral role in those responsibilities, and members of the board work diligently to be accessible to their constituents.

You are always encouraged to direct questions and complaints at the level most appropriate to your concern. Often that means first contacting a teacher, then a building administrator, then a central office administrator. Contact information for all staff is listed on the individual building websites or you may use the “Contact Us” section on the district website.

You may email the board by sending your comments to schoolboard@gpschools.org. Emails to this address are received by all board members, the superintendent, deputy superintendent and members of the communications team. The board reads every email that comes in.

    Please note the following:

    • A member of the administration or the board president shall respond on behalf of the board when appropriate.
    • If your email concerns a daily or operational issue, it will be forwarded on to the appropriate administrator for a response.
    • Unless an email addresses a matter involving an individual student or is otherwise statutorily protected from disclosure, emails to the board or its individual members are considered a form of public comment and may be shared with others as the board deems appropriate or as otherwise required.
    • If you choose to email a specific board member, please include your phone number for a response. If that board member chooses to respond via email (although they are not obligated to do so), that response may be copied to all members of the board and the superintendent.

Every regular meeting of the board includes an opportunity for public comment. Public comments at board meetings are limited to three minutes. If you wish to address the board, please attend the next scheduled meeting and file a public comment request card.

We welcome and value your input. Thank you for contacting the Grosse Pointe Board of Education.
