Dear XXXXX,

Now sure how or where my “tone” has struck a nerve, but perhaps that says more about your sensitivities than my professionalism. As for your comparison to President Donald J. Trump, I’m flattered that you think my voice carries that level of impact, though I assure you, I’m simply focused on facts and progress and not theatrics offered by others.

I’ll keep doing what I was elected to do which is advocate for our community, even when faced with unwarranted personal attacks.
