April Tini

  • April Arabian Tini is a Detroit based vocalist and choral music educator.
    After graduating from Western Michigan University with a Master’s
    Degree in Choral Conducting, she went on to teach Vocal Jazz at
    Northwestern University, Berklee College of Music and Wayne State
    University. She then transitioned to West Bloomfield Middle School,
    where she created and nurtured a thriving choral program. 
    Ms. Tini maintains a private voice studio and is currently on the Jazz
    Faculty at Wayne State University and The Metro Detroit Jazz
    Workshop.  An active clinician and adjudicator at music festivals and
    workshops throughout the US, her ensembles have performed at state,
    regional and national music conferences. Ms. Tini also taught and
    performed in Canada, Europe and Japan and has conducted All State
    and Regional choirs in many states.
    Ms. Tini appears on several Detroit based jazz recordings and is a
    regular performer at the Michigan Jazz Festival and at clubs and concert
    halls throughout the state. Recently, she performed as part of an NYC
    staged reading for a new musical in production, Bonhoeffer, The Musical.
    A proud alum and former director of Gold Company, WMU’S award
    winning vocal jazz ensemble, Ms. Tini served as the founding director of
    GCII. Her Vocal Jazz Arrangements are published through Shawnee
    Press/Hal Leonard and UNC Jazz Press.
