    Audition Process

    First Round

      1. On Monday, August 18, 10:30 AM, come to the Choir Room at North High School.
      2. You will sing a section of your chosen song for a small panel of directors.
      3. Before your audition, pick 16 measures (approximately) that you can sing for your first audition.
      4. You must have a copy of your sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist.
      5. You may be selected for a call-back audition on Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.  You will receive an email with results.

If you are selected to come to the Second Round Auditions:

      1. On Tuesday August 19, 10:30 AM, come to the Stage of the Performing Arts Center.
      2. You will sing your entire solo for the panel of directors.  This will take place in the auditorium with microphones and lights.
      3. Before your audition, you will be given a chance to rehearse and coach with your accompanist.
      4. You must have a copy of your sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist. (This is standard at ALL auditions unless otherwise specified.)
      5. We will choose several solos to be performed during the Finale Performance.  You will receive an email with the results sometime on Tuesday afternoon.

    Sheet Music

    1. You must have a copy of your sheet music.  This cannot be on a tablet or other device.  It does not matter if you have the song memorized.  The accompanist needs your music.
    2. Here are some websites where you can buy sheet music.  There’s often a version labeled “Piano/Vocal/Guitar” which is good to learn from.
      1. https://www.sheetmusicplus.com
      2. https://www.sheetmusicdirect.com/en-US/
      3. https://www.jwpepper.com
    3. Unless the song is intended to be acapella, you must use piano (or other) accompaniment.  A recorded accompaniment (no vocals) could be acceptable for the first audition (at the director’s discretion) but not for the second audition or the performances.
