    Trustee St. John,

Please refer to my email of 4:29pm re: the typo in my prior Committee board member assignments.

I would never assign you to a committee without your knowledge and your demonstration of a willingness to serve as a member.

    Respectfully,

    Ahmed Ismail

    Mr. Ismail,

I am surprised to have been assigned to the Finance & Facilities committee. While I’m happy to learn more about our facilities and financial work, I wish you had told me of this assignment more than one day in advance of the next meeting. I will do my best to be prepared for tomorrow evening.

    Thank you,
    Valarie St. John

In order to clear up any confusion as to board member committee assignments, they are as follows:

Policy-Contracts Committee: Cotton (chair), Jeup, Ismail
Facilities-Finance Committee: Ismail (chair), Collins, St. John
Community Engagement Committee:  Jeup (chair), Cotton
Curriculum Committee: Papas (chair), Collins, St. John

Please note that participation in these committees is totally voluntary.  In the past, we have had board members who (due to other commitments) have chosen not to serve on a committee.  This is totally understandable and is no way a reflection on your commitment to community service.

Please also note that the meeting start times will be dictated by committee member majority availability.  As Mrs. Worden is aware from her past service, we have had some committee meetings start at 4pm in the past so as to not tie up our administrators into the evening and/or because of committee member evening commitments.    In the event that your committee's meeting time becomes a factor for you, please let me know and I will do my best to find another committee assignment for you if possible and also find a replacement for you on the relevant committee.

    Respectfully,

    Ahmed Ismail
