    Dear Ms Boll

I cannot answer for the Board of Education but I felt I needed to respond to your email

For over a year myself, administrators from 389, high school administrators, counselors, mental health professionals, public safety, ministers, pastors and priest as well as three major hospitals have been meeting on a monthly basis in a mental health task force to try to prevent tragedies.  Wayne county mental health professionals have been involved as well.  Many people's talents and efforts have been applied to mental health issues our students face on a daily basis.

We continue to meet as a group to find answers. As a nurse and a mother it shakes all of us to our core, and while we want answers sometimes the answer is hard to find.

As you can see many many people have been working on this sensitive issue for well over a year.

    Sincerely

    Judy Gafa

    Comments or Concern:    Dear Board,
I am shaken by today's announcement that a South student committed suicide. Many adults have cause for concern about the mental health of the youth in this community. We hear about drug usage, anxiety, and other problems. I would urge you to use resources to educate our youth about these subjects. A focus on diversity, which serves to divide our student population into identity groups instead of uniting them into OneGP, is misguided. Clearly, more important matters deserve your attention. Most sincerely, Kelly Boll
