Thank you so much for calling me the other day to discuss your concerns with my thoughts regarding your comments on the diversity plan. As we discussed, I value your engagement on this and other issues. The only thing I took issue with your, and others', comments to Dr. Niehaus was the comment about "indoctrination."
I thought we had a very positive discussion over the phone about this and other issues earlier this week. I look forward to a continued dialogue with you.
Thank you for your involvement and activism in our community,
Chris

I discovered your letter to Dr. Niehaus on the school board website and feel compelled to comment directly to you. I was one of three people who met with the superintendent to express concerns regarding the involvement of the political activist group WE-GP with the co-sponsorship of the district's planned Raising Global Leaders forum, which happens to focus on discussion of diversity.
A clear political ideology is made manifest on the WE-GP Facebook site. WE-GP has been visibly involved in activities of a political nature in the community. It is against the law for a group to politically indoctrinate children in public schools. WE-GP has no place in our schools.
When asked directly, Dr. Niehaus informed us that the flyers posted about town with the LWV logo, the WE-GP logo and the GPPSS logo were inaccurate. He gave us a revised flyer absent the WE-GP logo. In fact, Dr. Niehaus went to great lengths to publish a retraction of the perceived district association with WE- GP in the March 16 issue of the Grosse Pointe News. You must be aware there was a lengthy feature article published on February 23 headlined "Diversity subject of community forum."
I quote some inaccuracies from this article that Dr. Niehaus assured us he would correct: "The forum — sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Grosse Pointe, Welcoming Everyone Grosse Pointe and the school district..." and "The joint effort, as We GP Education Task Force Chairwoman Jennifer Munson explained it, was created through mutual concerns for the future of district children."
I do wish to understand what you mean by the "very offensive accusations" or the "baseless accusations" you reference in your letter. The three of us gave much basis for the concerns we shared with the superintendent. Perhaps you misunderstood.
Sincerely,
Kelly Boll
