Her Life Skills teacher at Brownell Middle School, Ms. Taylor Barczyk set a challenge to her whole class. This challenge was to create a healthy recipe that emphasized the concepts they have learned in class. Taylor Barczyk’s class at Brownell Middle School enables students to learn healthy eating guided by the USDA’s Choose My Plate Program and the culinary skills to cook for themselves. Students create electronic cook books and use social media applications such as Snapguide, Instagram, and Twitter in order to demonstrate to others the healthy recipes they cook each day (check them out at BMSLIFESKILLS). It was through her time in the Foods and Nutrition class that Eva’s passion for cooking began and her skills developed. Eva Paschke was driven to succeed and created a Sizzle Fizzle Stir Fry recipe that represents the State of Michigan for the 2015 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge at the Kids’ State Dinner at the Whitehouse. Her recipe is included below and will be published in the Junior Chefs Healthy Lunchtime Challenge Cookbook from the White House!
