  • 124E How to be Successful in Middle School $110

    Grade 6-8 in fall, 8:30 - 10:00 AM
    This course is designed for students middle school students who want to have an extra advantage this fall.  Students will be taught test taking skills, study skills, note taking skills, how to read in the content areas, and how to use graphs and charts to find information. The course will be taught by a middle school teacher who knows what middle school students need to be successful!

  • 220S Step Up to 6th and 7th Grade English & Language Arts Skills $110
     

    Grade 6-7 in fall, 8:30-10:00 AM

    This course is designed to help students who need additional instruction to be successful in Middle School. This class is designed to review and reinforce the most important concepts covered in fifth grade language arts class. It emphasizes basic skills to help prepare students for sixth and seventh grade language arts, including strategies for reading fiction and nonfiction. Spelling, punctuation and grammar skills will be reinforced through reading and writing.

  • 221S Step Up to 8th and 9th Grade English Skills $110
     
    Grade 8 or 9 in fall, 10:15 – 11:45 AM
    This is an enrichment course intended for students just finishing 7th and 8th grade. Students engage in a variety of literacy activities designed to prepare them to meet the challenges of the next year's writing and reading tasks. Students explore the fundamentals of effective communication in all its forms and experience texts and tasks that mirror grade level literacy expectations.

  • 223S Step Up to 7th Grade Math $110
     
    Grade 7 in fall, 10:15 – 11:45 AM
    This is an enrichment course intended for students just finishing 6th grade. Students engage in a variety of activities designed to prepare them to meet the challenges of 7th grade math literacy. Students explore the fundamentals of math literacy, computation and logic through activities and tasks that mirror 7th grade math expectations. The course emphasizes adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, decimals and fractions without a calculator, using percents, solving word problems, and solving one step equations. This class builds on 6th grade content to provide a scaffold to 7th grade learning.

  • 224S Step Up to 8th and 9th Grade Math $110
     
    Grade 8 in fall, 8:30-10:00 AM
    This course intended for students just finishing 7th grade, or those who struggled with 8th grade math concepts. Students will engage in a variety of activities designed to reinforce the math concepts taught in 7th and 8th grade. Students will explore the fundamentals of math literacy, computation and logic through activities and tasks that connect with the common core curriculum. Students will take a pre-test on the first day of class that will be used to select the specific content.  If the pre-test indicates that the student has already mastered the concepts covered in the course the parents will be informed and offered a refund.
