Jamie Hainer
Ms. Hainer is a graduate from Michigan State University with a degree in science education. This year Ms. Hainer is teaching chemistry and physics and is extremely excited to be joining such a great team at North. Mr. Kosmas is an experienced chemistry teacher with 16 years at Grosse Pointe North. He attended Albion College for undergraduate, completed his graduate studies at Wayne State University and then worked in the WSU Upward Bound Program as well as served as an educator for bilingual students and English language learners. During his tenure at North, he has been very involved outside of the classroom, acting as J.V. Boys Tennis Coach, Class Advisor, Science Olympiad Coach, and Head of the Chemistry Outreach Program. Mrs. Lee has been teaching in Grosse Pointe since 2010. She taught at Pierce Middle School and South High School before joining the staff at North High School in 2012. Mrs. Michaels is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she earned her degree in science education. She is experienced in teaching biology and other biological sciences. Mr. Pata is a native of Grosse Pointe having graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1991. From there he attended Wayne State University on an academic scholarship. Upon graduation from Wayne State, he joined the Peace Corps and taught science & math in Ghana. Originally from South Bend, Indiana, where he remained through high school, Mr. Pola graduated from Indiana University in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. The following three years he served in various educational roles including, biology teacher, instructional leader, and athletic coach at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana. Mr. Skowronski has been teaching science for nine years, four of which have been at Grosse Pointe North. As a lifelong runner and one of the assistant cross country coaches, Mr. Skowronski was the race director of the S.A.V.E.-A-LIFE 5K Run/Walk. The event raised over $20,540 for charity in two years. Mrs. Speirs’ enthusiasm for life uplifts those around her! Sue is an active member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Livonia, where she participates in small groups, plays the flute in services, and leads adult bible classes on Sunday morning. She and her husband Mark of 27 years enjoy the blessings of each other and their adult children—Jessica and Ashley. Sue lives an active life enjoying kayaking, reading, walking, biking, and photography. She loves learning and finds joy igniting this passion in her students at Grosse Pointe North High School, where she is entering her 27th year teaching.
