Reading strategies for K-5 readers
When implementing at-home reading, set your reader up for success by:
- Creating a schedule, putting first things first (ex. reading before video games)
- Coach your child when they are independently reading with the reading strategies chart (linked above) and listen for opportunities to coach for:
- Comprehension
- Accuracy
- Fluency
- Vocabulary
- Use sight words or vocabulary words from reading to work on during games/centers/word study time
