    Good morning,
    I am writing to you concerning an email I read on the district website regarding the Superintendent search.  Specifically, it is an email from Mrs. Pangborn dated April 8, 2015.  (http://www.gpschools.org/Page/16400).

    In this email, Mrs. Pangborn expresses her concern that members of PTO Council will be included as part of the superintendent interview subcommittees.  In her words:

    "Why do we have 6 members suggested from a group not sanctioned by our school system . The PTO Council is an independent group who refuses to become a non-profit 501 c 3. They are an independent group who keep all funds under their treasurers personal bank account, intentionally , so that they do not have to publish a treasurers report. Last year both Dr. Harwood and President Joan Dindoffer,when discussing this group,said that they are an independent group not associated with the school. Parents from the individually sanctioned PTOs should have been chosen."

    Parents who are reps to PTO Council ARE from the "individually sanctioned PTOs" who happen to take their responsibilities quite seriously.  Generally, a PTO Council Representative position is considered a PTO board position due to its importance.  PTO Council does have a bank account and the treasurer presents a report at every meeting.  As a former PTO Council rep and current PTO President, I am dismayed that Mrs. Pangborn is so dismissive of the value of the Council.
