Subject: Serious problems with sub committee interviews and purposed groups
Dear Fellow Board members,
It is with regret that I must make comments to you about the proposed groups and process that we are heading towards purposed by Mr. Summerfield and his sub-committee. This display, further shows the extent of the disconnect, that this Board has with this community. The fact that the groups will not be able to hear each candidate for comparison makes their opinions hollow. They have nothing to compare it to. I do not understand why the subcommittee for the superintendent search has determined a need for these groups after they were already part of the focus groups and why haven't the names of those participating been listed in this information ?
As an example, a group may think the candidate they saw was outgoing and with a strong presence, but that's a stand alone observation. Would this same candidate not been so strongly received if they had seen the other candidates? No one knows!
Group 1 - I cannot believe that you have twice as many students as you have parents of children with special needs. There is no need for students to be included at this stage . 4 students representing 2 schools...2 adults representing 5 parent groups for children with special needs.
Embarrassing .
Why do we have 6 members suggested from a group not sanctioned by our school system . The PTO Council is an independent group who refuses to become a non-profit 501 c 3. They are an independent group who keep all funds under their treasurers personal bank account, intentionally , so that they do not have to publish a treasurers report. Last year both Dr. Harwood and President Joan Dindoffer, when discussing this group, said that they are an independent group not associated with the school.
Parents from the individually sanctioned PTOs should have been chosen .
Group 2 - why 7 principals? Who was chosen and why? Who chose them? Administrators having input on who they like for their boss? ...and no comparisons ? How cute...the principals are the group that get lunch. Lunch should have been given to Group 3' of community members, not our employees. Group 4 needs to be a part of group 2 as they are the same with the same interest.
Group 3 - Rotary gets 2 members...sports, music, the arts?...O. The disconnect is still there!
Where do you think we get all our money and support from? This is an INSULT to all the people in our community that have raised 100's of thousands of dollars to support these first class programs.
Group 4 - union leaders have their own group..this group should be eliminated and be combined with group 2....however without comparisons they too will have nothing to say that carries any weight because they will only have met one person.
I do not know why we even have this group dynamic for input. It doesn't make sense without comparisons. Stand alone interviews have no merit. We have already met with these focus groups, What is this purpose of this exercise?
Thank you,
Cindy
