Mrs. Nicole Filiccia, Principal

Dear Maire Families,

I am really looking forward to an exciting and productive school year with all of our Maire Leaders! This is my eighth year as part of the Grosse Pointe Public School staff. I also have 20 years of previous experience working in public education in different capacities. I graduated from Wayne State University (2011) with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters of Educational Leadership, Administration, and Organizational Studies in the spring of 2022.

I have a sincere passion and love for education! My goal as a leader is to help children discover the joy of learning and to assist each child in developing a strong belief in his or her own abilities. It is my hope that our students strive towards a sense of pride in doing their personal best each and every day. It is also of primary importance to me that our students appreciate and respect other students’ differences. I believe that as an elementary administrator, it is my responsibility to guide our students' educational experience. Also, teaching and modeling kindness and empathy with our students and staff. As your child’s principal, I intend to provide each student with an equitable opportunity to learn and grow as an individual.

To let you know a little bit more about myself, I am married with a 25-year-old son, named Chandler and a 10-year-old daughter, named Payton, who is currently in the 5th grade. We all love to read, ski (water and snow), swim, camping, playing golf, DIY projects (Makerspace) and watch movies/sports together! We love to laugh and have a ton of FUN!

I am excited to have this valuable opportunity to be working with all of our families this year.
