For future reference and clarification, Dr Niehaus and I discuss and approve the agenda a full week before the scheduled board meeting. This allows central office and any presenters time to pull together any required information that needs to be included in the electronic packet.
There is also a polcy in place that allows board members to request an item to be added to the agenda.
Thanks for Beimg the observer, I am sure all the attendees will look forward to sharing information from the conference with the BOE as well.

Not a big deal at all, Gary.  I was planning on going as an observer in any event.

The whole issue of us having someone representing Grosse Pointe as a voting delegate came up as a result of an email I received from Cheryl Huffman at MASB last week asking if we had passed a resolution appointing a voting delegate.  I didn't think you and Judy would be working on the agenda for this Monday's meeting until tomorrow, and that along with the passing of a dear friend put me behind a few days.

In the whole scheme of things, whether or not we have a voting delegate at the meeting is a very low priority in my mind.  It certainly wasn't worth the angst the back and forth emails seem to indicate.  I will share the results of the meeting with the other members of the board in any regard when I return.

    Take care and best wishes,

    Ahmed

    Ahmed,

When is the deadline for delegate assembly?  We have always had a delegate assembly person in place before we left.

Sorry about the meeting being cancelled…you will be a great observer to the delegation.

    Thanks,
    GCN

    Hello, Gary,

I am in receipt of your email of this morning advising the Board that we will not be having a meeting this coming Monday, October 19th.

One of the items I was going to write you and Judy about this morning (which may very well be a moot point now) is that one of the items to be added to this Monday's agenda is the selection of an MASB delegate for the Delegate Assembly by resolution and the Board's direction to this delegate on the items to be voted on which are listed in the attached MASB Delegate Handbook.

I don't know that there is a way to accomplish this without Monday's meeting.  I will be attending the meeting as a non-voting attendee in any event.  If there is some way to accomplish the above, I would be happy to serve as the Board's delegate so that Grosse Pointe has some formal representation at the Assembly.

    Thank you,

    Ahmed

P.S. to all Board members--there is a great chart on parliamentary procedure in the handbook that you may want to print out for future reference.
