     A Winning Tradition

The Athletic Program at Grosse Pointe South High School is rich with tradition. From the time South was "The High" to its back-to-back Girls' Lacrosse and Girls' Hockey State Championships, the Athletic Program has been a source of great pride for the school district and community. We are understandably proud of our Athletic Program as it has withstood the test of time.

As proud as we are of the athletic achievements of our teams and student-athletes, we are even more proud of their academic successes. Each year South is among the conference and state leaders in Academic All-State athletes, and MHSAA Scholar Athletes Award qualifiers and recipients. Through the efforts and dedication of our excellent coaching staff, teaching staff, administrative team, and students and parents, our student-athletes are truly students first.

Included among the lessons to be learned from athletic competition are:
Lifelong friendships, experiencing and learning team work, development of sportsmanship as participant and spectator, goal setting and competing with others as well as ones self.
These are the sports we offer throughout the year
