• Dear Monteith Families,

“ I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point: If this isn’t nice I don’t know what is.”

    -Kurt Vonnegut

I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2016-17 school year at Monteith Elementary School. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to returning to school ready to learn and grow. I am so honored to be starting my 2nd year at Monteith and working with all of your new and returning families. I was reminded this morning how incredible the Monteith community is as I see all the happy smiling faces as students reunited with friends and met their new teachers.

This summer was very busy at Monteith as we started construction on the Preschool classrooms in our building in rooms 101 &102. Our technology staff continued to work on updates all summer throughout the building. Our PTO and Green Team have also been working very hard to keep our school looking beautiful. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful parents supporting our school. Our Engineering and Office staff has also been working very hard throughout the summer the addition of new staff and room changes. The greatest thing about Monteith and being a part of our learning community is the Kindness that each and everyone of us has for each other and our school.

There have been a few staff changes to start the school year. At the end of the year we had a few of our amazing teachers retire after many excellent years in Grosse Pointe Schools. On the following page you will find the list of all staff members for the 2016-17 school year. We are looking forward to welcoming all our new staff members into the Monteith family this year!

Please mark your calendars for the following important event at Monteith:

Picture Day: Wednesday, September 21st: All students

I look forward to meeting and working with all of your families this year!

    Sincerely,

    Shelleyann Keelean
