Beginning in 2008-09 all students in grades 1-8 take the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) that are provided by the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA). Students take reading and mathematics assessments on the computer three times during the year. At spring conferences teachers will be sharing the results of the first and second assessments taken during the year.
To help parents learn about the nature of these tests and how they are used, several links are being provided from the NWEA website that should be helpful:
Parent’s Toolkit (http://www.nwea.org/support/details.aspx?content=930)
This site provides a great deal of information about the assessments, answers frequently asked questions, and introduces parents to lexile scores.
