Extended Day Informational Letter Extended Day Informational Meeting on Jan. 25 Flyer Extended Day Registration Form General Information 2004-2005 The Grosse Pointe Public School System is once again offering an optional extended day program/childcare for children attending kindergarten for 2004-2005. This informative letter is sent to all families of age eligible children, those turning 5 on or before December 1, 2004. The program is available only to residents of the Grosse Pointe Public School district. Enrollment Form The extended day program offers an alternative for parents who wish to enhance the diverse and challenging experiences now being provided for children in our traditional half-day kindergarten program. It provides students with longer blocks of time for learning and enrichment. This program combines the traditional half-day kindergarten program with an additional half-day of enrichment experiences in KinderClub. The major focus of the time in KinderClub will be providing increased opportunities for social, emotional, physical and school readiness development. Activities and experiences in creative expression, such as story time, language development and problem solving will be offered. Class size is limited to 20 students. Kinderclub is a licensed day care program under IRS regulations. While licensed as a day care, the program is staffed by a fully certified kindergarten teacher who teaches in our half-day kindergarten program. This assures that the supplemental learning and enrichment experiences in KinderClub are consistent with our traditional half-day kindergarten programs. KinderClub follows the same schedule as all Grosse Pointe elementary schools (8:30 - 3:32 p.m. ). Children may buy their lunch, bring a lunch from home, or go home for lunch. Milk will be available at an additional charge. For more information regarding this service, please call the Kids Club office at 432 - 3067 Location for Extended Day Kindergarten: The five planned site locations for the 2004-05 school year are Defer, Kerby, Barnes, and Poupard.
