Dear Richard Families and Friends,

Thank you for visiting the Richard Elementary School website.  Richard opened its doors for the first time in September of 1930, which makes us 77 years old! Our building features Pewabic tile fireplaces and fishponds (which we now use as reading nooks) in two classrooms, decorative plaster over classroom doors, marble walls in the hallways, and a beautiful slate roof. 

The character of our physical building extends to the character of the dynamic people who spend countless hours making our school a great place for learning. We currently have 420 students that attend kindergarten through fifth grade in our school. Our staff continues to be committed to using a variety of resources to benefit our students. They have extensive training in differentiating instruction which enables them to address the variety of learning styles of our students. In addition to our classroom staff, our specialists include a Language Arts specialist, Resource Teachers, School Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech Pathologist, Art Teachers, Physical Education Teacher, Library Media Specialist, Vocal and Instrumental Teachers, a Computer Lab Assistant and a Library Assistant.  Our wonderful secretary, office clerk, and engineers keep the building in wonderful condition.

Our school community would not be complete without the ongoing parental partnership we enjoy.  Parents participate through a variety of volunteer endeavors and enrich our instructional opportunities with a strong Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). 

We are truly fortunate to have a community that is 100% child-centered! As principal, I am so proud to be able to witness  our successes each and every day!
