The Parcells/Brownell Destination Imagination team took first place at the Middle School level in our category, Chorific.   That means the kids competed  in the Global competition in Knoxville, TN  on May 21--May 24. Congratulations!

The last Saturday in April, the Social Studies Olympiad team competed in the state championship Quiz Bowl.  For the second year in a row, the team finished 2nd in the state.  We blew the competition away in all of the rounds winning decisive victories each time.  In the final round the team lost but we are very proud of our 4 team members:
Mike M, Leena R, Saim R, Roxanne I.

Parcells' honors math students took place in the yearly Michigan Mathematics League contest.  Students were given 30 minutes to answer 40 challenging word problems. The top 5 scores for each grade level were entered as the school score.  Congratulations to this year's participants!

6th Grade  Ranked 13th in the state out of 89 schools, with a team score of 148 out of a possible 200. Michael B was ranked 22, with an individual score of 34 out of 40. He was also ranked 3rd in Wayne County.  Parcells' 6th grade team was ranked 3rd in Wayne County.
7th Grade  Ranked 20 in the state out of 85 schools with a team score of 148.  Parcells' 7th grade team was ranked 4th in Wayne County.
8th Grade  Ranked 22 in the state out of 89 schools with a team score of 150 out of a possible 200.

Counselor Certificate:

The Parcells Counselor Award is given each report card marking to all students who have received all 1's and 2's in EFFORT, WORK HABITS and CONDUCT in all classes (including Advisory) from every teacher.  This means that these students have regularly demonstrated consistent effort, quality work habits and responsible behavior throughout the card marking.  A special recognition is awarded in June to students who have earned all 1's in Effort, Work Habits and Conduct for all three card markings.  As counselors, we are very proud to recognize this worthy accomplishment and hope that every student at Parcells becomes a part of the Counselor Award program.  Look for your name posted outside the counseling center.
