Schools

The Grosse Pointe Public School System serves the five Grosse Pointes (Park, City, Farms, Woods, and Shores) and part of Harper Woods, a total area of approximately thirteen square miles. Most of our 49,000 residents are college-educated professionals.

	We have more than 575 teachers, who serve approximately 8,700 students in nine elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8), two high schools (9-12) and Community School (9-12).
	A tenth elementary facility--Barnard Center--is located in Grosse Pointe Woods on the grounds of the Children's Home of Detroit and serves residents of that home.

	Barnes School in Grosse Pointe Woods houses an early childhood center that includes special education services for infants to six-year-olds and an extended day kindergarten. The Community Education Department is also located at Barnes School.
	Webmasters at each building are responsible for a school's web pages and are in various phases of publishing school information to the Internet.
