The original Monteith Computer Lab was a combined
effort of teachers, parents, students and central office. The space itself
was constructed by dividing a second floor classroom into one-third space
for our Learning Resource Center and two-thirds for the lab. Monteith PTO
funds were used to purchase the initial computers, printers and furniture
for the room.
We outgrew the original computer lab in the 2005/06
school year. With the addition of a building elevator, Monteith also gained
two classrooms on the main floor and one large classroom and a conference
room on the second floor.
Monteith’s Computer Lab is now located on the second
floor in the new large classroom. The well planned configuration of the
classroom allowed us to use the existing furniture. Central Office supplied
the funds for additional furniture and three new computers, to make a total
of 30 student computers and one teacher computer.
Our new lab is bright and airy with plenty of room to
accommodate every class size. The lab is always a busy place and is used
extensively by students, teachers and also for system-wide teacher
workshops. Michelle Hartman is Monteith’s Computer Assistant. Mrs. Hartman
works with teachers and students daily, thus extending our computer
experiences. You are welcome to join us at any time of the school day in
the computer lab!
