Library Club
Raises $745.50 For Seedlings Braille Books!!
Thanks to Monteith
Library Club members and their parents and Monteith students and
staff, we raised $745.50 for Seedlings Braille Books for Children.
That will mean about 75 books can be produced for children around the
world who need them! Thank you all for your support, Monteith.
Library Club
raised $393.50 on their first bake sale in March and raised an additional
$353.00 on April 27th's bake sale. Library Club members and their
families were very generous and creative with the baked goods they donated
to this worthwhile cause. Library Club members also gave up their
lunch recess to work at the bake sales. At the April 27th bake sale,
several Library Club "Mom's" took time out of their busy day to help out
with set-up, selling and clean-up.
Library Club
members had a chance to meet Mrs. Susan Bresler, Assistant to the Director
of Seedlings on April 20th in Monteith Library. She spoke for about
an hour explaining Seedlings' mission as well as how children are taught
to read Braille. She left many handouts for Library Club members and
brought Braille bookmarks for members as well. A letter she sent to
Mrs. Gaughan for the Monteith Library Club is located below. Several
students at Monteith came up to Mrs. Gaughan during the bake sales to
donate money for the cause, and several also have come in to donate enough
to make another Braille book possible. Thank you on behalf of
Seedlings for your generosity!
As sponsor of
Library Club, I had no idea how strongly this group would embrace this
project. They were behind it 110% and showed once again what fine
young men and women they are. I am one very proud sponsor!
Thanks to all Library Club members, parents, staff and Mrs. Walby for your
support.
Mrs. Kathy Gaughan
Proud Sponsor,
