Grosse Pointe Foundation For Public Education
Enhancing a Tradition of Excellence
What is the Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education?
The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education (GPFPE) is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to the continued academic excellence of the Grosse Pointe Public School System (GPPSS).
The Foundation secures private, supplemental funding to support and enhance the academic and enrichment programs and activities for students and staff. Funds raised augment school system revenues that are provided by taxes, state aid, grants, and other parent and student led fundraising efforts.
Why is the Foundation necessary?
The GPFPE is necessary to help ensure the caliber of educational programs we have come to expect of the GPPSS.
Your support of the Foundation means greater academic opportunities for all students, today and into the future.
To protect and enhance the value of our homes and property and the quality of life we enjoy, we must further invest in our public school system.
What is the purpose of the Foundation?
The GPFPE’s purpose is to provide locally controlled, financial support to the GPPSS by direct contribution and through proceeds generated by an endowment. The Foundation’s mission and vision are listed below.
Funds raised by the Foundation will support the school systems’ strategic plan and invest in areas such as enhanced educational programming, innovative technology, elementary foreign language, classroom improvement, staff and professional development, and extracurricular, co-curricular and athletic programs and activities.
Funds raised by the Foundation will augment, but not replace, the generous support provided by booster clubs, PTOs and other organizations that are so important to our schools.
Who is involved with the GPFPE?
The Foundation is comprised of many community volunteers, including a Board of Directors, whose names are listed below.
The GPFPE is a growing group of concerned community members who are committed to this community and its continued tradition of educational excellence. Some have children in the system, some are proud parents of graduates and some have no direct connection to the schools. All, however, understand the relationship between an excellent public school system and the unparalleled quality of life we enjoy in Grosse Pointe.
How might I support and learn more about the work of the Foundation?
