Ferry Computer Lab

The Ferry Computer Lab was established in 1996 as one of the first elementary computer labs in the Grosse Pointe School System.  It is comprised of 30 Dell Optiplex Pentium 4 computers.  There is a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4600 color printer and a  LaserJet 4100 black and white printer.   The lab is equipped with a mounted InFocus Projector, a  Hewlett Packard ScanJet Scanner and a LightSpeed Technologies Amplification System.

The Lab is used extensively by the students of Ferry.   Each class spends a total of forty-five minutes in the Lab every week,  following block scheduling. Students learn keyboarding, spreadsheets and graphing, paint/drawing techniques, Internet research and word processing as part of the Computer Education Curriculum.  All of the software, some 40 programs, are educationally based and provide for the continued technological growth of the students. In the classrooms the students use the laptop-like computers called DreamWriters.

During the summer of 2002, the Ferry Lab was completely refurbished with new computers and furniture.  See Pictures of Old Lab and the New Ferry Lab.

In addition, the Ferry Lab is used by the Grosse Pointe Public School System for some Staff Development classes throughout the year.
