The Family Center of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods
Formed out of a Youth Summit the GPPSS coordinated, with activities originally funded by the PTO Council, the family center of grosse pointe and harper woods is now an independent 501(c)3. Their activities for “building healthy, resilient, successful kids … together” include their annual Parenting Symposium, Focus Parenthood, weekly “Ask the Experts" column in the Grosse Pointe News, Second Saturdays with the Grosse Pointe Historical Society, a quarterly newsletter, Play Central playgroups in local gymnasiums, Parenting Parties, and special events ranging from seminars to safety seat inspections. One key is that the family center recognizes the importance of supporting the whole community in raising our children. So, not only are parents involved, but you will often see grandparents, teachers, and caregivers at events.
