It is your responsibility to keep accurate records of all classes you attend in or out of the district as well as any committee work.

1. What is the easiest method to keep my records?
There are many ways to file and save this information. The simplest way is to start a new file the first day of every school year and put all your records in that folder. If you don’t have any paper proof, jot down the dates, the committee and the times you spent on a particular project. Keep all your records in one place.

2. Will I ever get a report?
Yes, Staff Development will issue you an annual report that reflects all your completed hours to date. Check this list very carefully for discrepancies. Remember this could affect your paycheck.

3. What if all my hours are not reflected in the report?
If your report is not accurate, do not throw away any documentation of workshops when you question the hours received or not received.  Make sure that you have completed all the paperwork and call the Staff Development Office with further questions: 313.432.3047.

If your question deals with a graduate level course or salary, call Human Resources at 313.343.3017.

4. Do I need to keep my records after receiving my annual report?
If your report is correct and reflects all the hours you think you’re entitled to, then file the report with your supporting material and start a new folder for the next year.  The staff development year is from the first day of every school year in August to the day before the new school year in the following August.
