SCHOOL-BASED COMMITTEE WORK

You may receive new teacher credit as well as Salary Credit for your participation in meetings held at your school.

  1. Is there a form?
Yes, all committee meetings should have a green sign-in attendance sheet. Make sure you initial your attendance. Or if there is an attendance recorder make sure that your presence is noted. This is our only way of verifying your presence at a meeting.  [To print a copy of the form on your green paper, click and print page 1 and page 2.  To print a green-shaded copy of the form on your white paper, click and print both pages here.]
  2. What meetings qualify?
PAC (site-based budget committee) meetings, curriculum or grade-level meetings, and pre-approved work sessions such as PLAN FOR SUCCESS meetings.
  3. Do all approved* meetings qualify for New Teacher Credit?
Yes. All meetings even those scheduled during the normal school day can qualify for New Teacher Credit except for staff development half-days and Tuesday meetings including staff, department or multi-site meetings.
  4. Do all approved* meetings qualify for Salary Credit?
No. Meetings that qualify must take place outside of the normal school day. For example, if school is closed to students due to an in-house workshop, no Salary Credit is given to the teachers.
  5. How do I receive credit?
The green attendance sheets are sent to the Office of Staff Development for approval and the individual’s hours are recorded. You will receive an annual report that reflects these hours.
  6. Should I keep a separate record of the hours I spend doing committee work?
Yes. Keep a record of time, place, date and committee name until you receive the annual report.
  7. What if I want to initiate a site-based staff development meeting?
Fill out the Site-Based Staff Development form and send it to Dr. Allan at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop for approval.
Send the approved form and an attendance sheet after the workshop has been completed to the Staff Development Office.
  8. Where will I find this form?
Make a copy of the form included in this manual.

  9. Who do I call with any questions?
Call the Staff Development Office at 432.3047.

*If you are not sure if a meeting is pre-approved, call the Staff Development Office.
