The main purpose of social studies is to prepare young people to become
responsible citizens. Through the integrated study of the seven strands including history,
geography, civics, economics, inquiry, civic involvement, public
discourse, and decision making, students will develop social understanding
and prepare to make informed decisions as citizens.
