Animated Math Glossary

  • A multimedia math glossary by Harcourt Publishers for grades K – 6.  The lists are categorized by grade and the by alphabet.  A definition is given for each word as well as an example.

Fun Brain 

  • The website is designed for K – 8 teachers and kids.  The site has links to educational games, curriculum resources, flash cards, lesson plans, and classroom management resources.

MathSurf

  • This website correlates with the math textbooks in grades K – 6.  The site includes a Problem of the Day for each grade level, and it has links to other related web sites.

Symmetry & Tessellations

  • This website contains 30 activities for symmetry and tessellations that coordinate with the chapters and activities of Jill Britton’s book Investigating Patterns: Symmetry and Tesselations (grades 5-8)

  •  Awesome Library organizes the Web  with 26,000 carefully reviewed resources,   including the top 5 percent in education.

Clever Games

  • The games on this website are all taken from John Conway’s book Clever Math GamesIf you play these games enough, you should be able to find a strategy that will always allow you to win.

Conversions

  • This site has conversions between metric and US measurement.

Cool Math

  • This site contains links to other sites for kids, teachers, and parents by subject.

Copernicus  Gateway

  • EdGate empowers the K-12 educational community to make data-driven decisions utilizing multiple strategies to improve student achievement. EdGate identifies which state standards will and, more importantly, will not be tested on their high stakes statewide exams.

  • This site lists links to many good math websites.  The material is organized  into the following categories: lesson plans, software, topics in mathematics, contests and competitions, professional series, and other.

MathBuilder

  • This site will help you create a math worksheet or puzzle, based on grade level or specific skills.

 MathForum

  • The Math Forum is a leading center for mathematics and mathematics education on the Internet. Their mission is to provide resources, materials, activities, person-to-person interactions, and educational products and services that enrich and support teaching and learning in an increasingly technological world.

Math Goodies

  •  Math Goodies is a free math help site featuring interactive lessons, puzzles and worksheets.  This site has over 400 pages of activities for students, educators and parents.

 Math League

  • The Math League is dedicated to bringing challenging mathematics materials to students. The Math League specializes in math contests, books, and computer software designed to stimulate interest and confidence in mathematics for students from the 4th grade through high school. Problems are designed to cover a range of mathematical knowledge for each grade level. All of the problems on each contest require no additional knowledge of mathematics beyond the grade level they test.

Mathematics Lessons

  • A compilation of K – 12 math lessons by Cynthia Lanius, an instructor at Rice University, who specializes in technology integration.

Math Magic

  • MathMagic was a K-12 telecommunications project developed to provide motivation for students to use computer technology while increasing problem-solving strategies and communications skills. MathMagic posted challenges in each of four categories (k-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12) which are now archived and available to download.

MathNerds

  • MathNerds provides free, discovery-based, mathematical guidance via an international, volunteer network of mathematicians

MEAP

  •  This site is connected to the Michigan Department of Education’s website.  It contains information for teachers and parents about the MEAP test, upcoming test dates, results, and released items.

Michigan Teacher Network

  •  Michigan Teacher Network provides easy access to PK-12 education related Web resources that have been carefully evaluated for quality, relevance, and effectiveness. MTN describes thousands of excellent resources that can be used with students in the classroom, with teachers for professional development, and by educators for planning and problem solving.

NCTM

  • The official website for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. NCTM is a public voice of mathematics education, providing vision, leadership, and professional development to support teachers in ensuring mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students.

PBS Teacher Source

  • Find lessons and activities by grade level and activity on the PBS site.

Puzzle Playground

  • A resource for puzzling on the internet.  This site contains puzzles to stretch students’ brains, and ideas for teachers to incorporate puzzles into their math curriculum.

Set Game

  • The Set game website, which includes a daily puzzle.

Women of Mathematics

  • This site contains information about notable women in mathematics and links to their biographies.

  •  A website of interactive mathematics, miscellany, and puzzles.

Figure This

  • Mathematical challenges for families provide interesting math challenges that middle-school students can do at home with their families.  This site is sponsored by NCTM.

MathCounts

  • Mathcounts is a national math enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement across the US. Mathcounts is sponsored by NCTM and the website features information about the competitions and a great problem of the week archive.

Pearson Prentice Hall

  • This website correlates with the math textbooks in grades 6 – 8.  The site includes activities by chapter that integrate  other subjects areas.

WebMath

  • This site offers help with solving math problems.

9-12

Calculus Help

  • This site has good info but hasn’t been updated since 2003.

Math Fun

  • This archive is designed as a resource for enriching your courses with mathematical fun facts!

Interactive Math Links

  • This site provides links for high school math that are interactive and are usually written in Java.

Making Mathematics

  • Research projects for young mathematicians.

Purple Math

  • Lists Internet links for algebra.

ThinkQuest

  • This mathematics site has tutorials in Algebra and Trigonometry and a very extensive section about Geometry.

World of Mathematics

  • MathWorld is a comprehensive and interactive mathematics encyclopedia intended for students, educators, math enthusiasts, and researchers. Like the vibrant and constantly evolving discipline of mathematics, this site is continuously updated to include new material and incorporate new discoveries.
