Business Advertisement
and Card

- Open MS Publisher. Come up with a business such as
Lemonade Stand, Babysitting, Dog Sitting, or Lawn Mowing.
- Select “Advertisements.” Pick “The Works” Advertisement.
- In the Task Pane. For Logo, click on “Include”.
- For Size, click on “custom…”, and change it to “Full
page” and click “OK”.
- For Copies per sheet, choose one.
- Change the text in the “Attention Grabber”
to something that will suit your business.
- Fill in the text boxes with information appropriate
to your service: including a description, a bulleted list of the services
your business will perform, your hours of operation, your location, and
your contact information.
- Change the clip art and organizational logo to images
that suit your business. You can
change a clip art image by double clicking on the clip art frames and
selecting a new image from the clip gallery.
- Save your advertisement to your folder.
- Print your advertisement.
- Go to “File” ->
“New”. Pick “Business Cards.” Select a business card style of your
choice. The wizard should
automatically change the organization and logo to the ones used for the
advertisement.
- Select a color scheme for your card.
- Select the Landscape orientation for your card.
- Say “Yes” to the logo placeholder.
- Chose to print several cards tiled on the page.
- Change the information on the card to suit your
business.
- Save your business card to your folder.
- Print your business card.
- Staple your advertisement and business card together
and hand in to your teacher.
Extension Ideas: Adjust the fonts on your business card and/or
advertisement to something you find more pleasing. Change the background of the Attention Grabber
in your advertisement to a color or gradient.
Put borders around your frames.
To change the properties of a given frame, activate the frame by
clicking on it. Then go to the “Format”
menu to make your changes.
